What music has inspired you?
I grew up being exposed to a wide variety of genres. My parents always listened to the old country music like Johnny Cash, Dolly and Waylon Jennings. Then on the other hand they loved Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens and the like so I was very lucky. I still listen to and am inspired by many emerging and established artists from all genres.
-
Use three words to sum yourself up?
Ballsy, Blunt, Real
-
What music are you listening to at the moment?
Pistol Annies, Zac Brown Band and Harry Hookey. Look them all up!
-
If you had a choice to play one song, what would it be, and why?
Me and Bobby McGee. Its by one of the greatest female artists Janis Joplin (although written by Kris Kristofferson). It says so much and has great meaning! I love it..
-
Where will you be in five years from now?
Hopefully still singing/songwriting and making music for people to enjoy!
-
What venue would you most like to play at?
Any honkytonk bar in Nashville! That would be awesome. Otherwise in Oz, somewhere like Blues & Roots Festival!
-
If you had a choice, who would be your support band?
Old Crow Medicine Show! They are fantastic!
-
Have you ever played in a band before, and if so who?
I have been playing in bands for a number of years - since I was quite young! My first rock band however was a 4-piece all girl band which evolved into McGee. I know also perform in a band called The Silver Spurs..
-
Three people you would invite to your gig and why?
1. My grandfather - if he was alive. To show him that his musical legacy and traditions live on. 2. My old school music teacher. To prove how far I have come since those days! 3. My best friend who has never actually seen me perform live - EVER!! Weird...
-
Any tips you would like to share with your fellow musos?
Stay true to your style and don't let others manipulate what they think you 'should' sound like. Your audience respects you more for being yourself, not following someone else's rules..
-
Do you live the Rock n Roll lifestyle?
I like to think so. But in actual fact I probably don't....
