Interview with Within Your Wounds, 27.10.11

  1. How did your band meet?

Umm...well, before we broke up, we'd grown up together. Now I'm the only one left. Looking to meet people on Ozjam though!

  2. Where did the idea for your band's name come from?

It comes from a prayer, the Anima Christi

  3. What music has inspired your band?

Musically, I'd say A Day To Remember, Four Year Strong, but also heavier stuff like Parkway Drive, For the Fallen Dreams, The Devil Wears Prada, Blessthefall, Bring Me The Horizon, August Burns Red. Then there's also the more hardcore punk bands like Stray From The Path and Set Your Goals. Lyrically, you're looking at bands like For Today, The Getaway Plan, Fall Out Boy, Fireworks, Take It Back! I know most of those bands are distanced fro themselves as well, but I guess it shows how musically "well read" I am.

  4. Use three words to sum up your band?

    Inspired. Determined. Progressive.

  5. What venue would you most like to play at?

MOST?! There's too many to name. The Hordern would always be cool to aspire for in the future. The Metro. Emo's in Austin, Texas.

  6. If you had a choice, who would be your support band?

When we get to the point of having the oppurtunity to choose support I'd say Parkway. you know, just to get everyone pumped? ;) But most importantly, I look forward to being able to offer a chance of exposure to other local bands who really want/need it. I love helping people, and that's definitely an overall message that we always had in this band from the onset.

  7. Three people dead or alive you would invite to your gig, and why?

Dead? Michael Jackson, 'cause you can't kill a man twice. Then Pete Wentz (he's a huge musical inspiration for myself) and then maybe someone I know who likes classical...just to scare 'em a little, right? >:D

  8. What are you listening to at the moment?

I've recently been exploring the new Tonight Alive record, the new The Bride record, Family Force 5 's new one called "III", TDWP-Dead Throne, and Fireworks' Gospel.

  9. Where will your band be in five years from now?

I'd like to see the band fully established, friendships throughly rendered bewtween everyone, because that's defintely one of the most important things is to be personally aligned with your fellow musicians. More than that, though, just to be FRIENDS. I look forward to seeing our name rise up from the seemingly bottomless quagmire of regurgitated metalcore. Definitely. It's all about progression. Hopefully, we'll have a few releases out by then, too. (And play the Warped Tour :O)

  10. Any tips you would like to share with your fellow muso's?

Rock out. Do it because you love and because you want to facilitate good messages. Not for money. (But make sure you've got enough dough to keep you going). No sacrifice, no victory. Simple as that.

  11. Do you live the Rock n Roll lifestyle?

Heh...well that depends on what you mean by the phrase "rock n roll lifestyle". Personally, I think it's dead. There's more to music than sex, drugs and rock n roll.
