How did your band meet?
We used to jam in our school music department, and one day we decided to start playing funk music. Our bassist was the inspiration as he was the one who brought about funk and soul to our ears. It was really convenient, as we all went to the same school.
-
Where did the idea for your band's name come from?
Loooooong story, and personally we hate it when people ask it. Long story short, our bassists fathers mate saw an old TV holding cactus in it and suggested the name.
-
What music has inspired your band?
Anything coming out of Daptone Records and Truth & Soul Records at the moment. Eddie Bo James Brown Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings Old style New Orleans funk as well.
-
Use three words to sum up your band?
Raw funky soul
-
What venue would you most like to play at?
The Apollo - Harlem, New York
-
If you had a choice, who would be your support band?
We would love to support a band from Daptone.... But our support band... I don't know. Maybe another underrepresented band who have a potential to go far in the future.
-
Three people dead or alive you would invite to your gig, and why?
James Brown Barbara Streisand Gabriel Roth
-
What are you listening to at the moment?
Fela Kuti The Menahan Street Band Ennio Morricone
-
Where will your band be in five years from now?
Producing endless 45's from our own studio while traveling the world and showing people a good time.
-
Any tips you would like to share with your fellow muso's?
Just do what you love. There's no point playing music if you don't enjoy what you're playing. Talk to as many musicians as you can! Contacts are the way in to the business!
-
Do you live the Rock n Roll lifestyle?
We live the soul brother lifestyle.
