Interview with Paul Suares, 29.06.11

  1. What music has inspired you?

Harry Williams, Beneath The Massacre, Animals As Leaders, Average White Band, Battles, Cilice, Coldplay, Enfold Darkness, Fear My Thoughts, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hanz Zimmer, Lamb Of God, m83, Meshuggah, Muse, Obscura, Queen, Rings Of Saturn, Slightly Stoopid, Sufjan Stevens, Graveyard Train, System Of A Down, TesseracT, Threat Signal, Veil Of Maya, Yann Tiersen, Karnivool.

  2. Use three words to sum yourself up?

    Dedicated, Passionate, Easy-going.

  3. What music are you listening to at the moment?

Battles - Gloss Drop, Born Of Osiris - The Discovery, Paul Wardingham - Assimilate Regenerate, TesseracT - One.

  4. If you had a choice to play one song, what would it be, and why?

Battles - 'Inchworm' because it's too funky. Grooviest song I've heard in a while.

  5. Where will you be in five years from now?

Touring internationally, constantly collaborating with inspiring musicians, endorsed and being featured in magazines and drum clinics. A lot of work to do but if I don't try I'll never get there.

  6. What venue would you most like to play at?

Roundhouse - I've seen my favourite bands there and it's a good bench mark to set for the near future.

  7. If you had a choice, who would be your support band?

Well I'm not in a set band at the moment, just collaborating in a few projects of different styles so I couldn't really answer that. Someone that wouldn't show us up too much?? haha

  8. Have you ever played in a band before, and if so who?

I've played in a couple of small time metal bands from the Northern Beaches: Sarah Connor and A Curse Of Silence as well as fill in gigs for a few bands here and there, which played covers, funk, reggae, rock, jazz and all sorts of wonderful delights.

  9. Three people you would invite to your gig and why?

  10. Any tips you would like to share with your fellow musos?

Don't waste time with people who don't share the same dreams and goals as you because no matter how good the chemistry/musicianship it won't last.

  11. Do you live the Rock n Roll lifestyle?

Not exactly. Still living at home and havn't gone on tour yet :( due to how hard it is to find like-minded musos, but it's what I'm working extremely hard towards. (Not the having-a-lack-of-money part though)
