How did your band meet?
Well, Knox was dragged up the hospital in pyjamas aged 3 to peer into one of those see-through plastic baby tubs and meet Flaxton. And then about 20 months later both Knox and Flaxton were dragged up to the same hospital to meet Xane. There were the obligatory older sibling cuddling younger sibling photos, and it just went on from there really.
-
Where did the idea for your band's name come from?
The first time we performed together as a band it was all quite last minute. There was the typical spirited sibling 'discussion' that resulted in Mum making an executive decision - and it was Wheeler.
The lower case ‘w’ with capital ‘R’ spelling of the band name came early on, as a result of a bitter struggle with caps locks and a games controller while trying to enter the band name into Guitar Hero World Tour on the Xbox. The brothers liked the look of it, and it stuck.
-
What music has inspired your band?
All of it. And it's continually evolving, but for starters - The Kooks, Angus & Julia Stone, Kisschasy, Billy Bragg, Missy Higgins, Hilltop Hoods, Foo Fighters, Powderfinger, The Waifs, the Stone Roses, Regurgitator, Oasis, REM, Nirvana, Jose Gonzalez, Silverchair, Dandy Warhols, Damien Rice, Frente, Ben Lee......eclectic we know but there's 3 of us!
-
Use three words to sum up your band?
Lyrical teen angst
-
What venue would you most like to play at?
Abbey Road Studios......and it will happen!
-
If you had a choice, who would be your support band?
The Kooks!
-
Three people dead or alive you would invite to your gig, and why?
Knox's picks are Jeff Buckley, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain - never had a chance in my lifetime to make it to one of theirs. Living people are dead boring.
-
What are you listening to at the moment?
I Heart Hiroshima, The Middle East, Angus & Julia Stone.
-
Where will your band be in five years from now?
Playing Live at Abbey Road with The Kooks as our support act, having just featured on the cover of Rolling Stone.
-
Any tips you would like to share with your fellow muso's?
Keep it fun, play it loud.
-
Do you live the Rock n Roll lifestyle?
Ask Knox again when he turns 18 later this year. Flaxton and Xane aspire to one day.
