How did your band meet?
When Oz moved over here from Tassie our Mum's kinda forced us to jam together... I think they regret that now. But we eventually decided to form a new band as we'd both just left bands of our own. Then we went through a number of guitarists and drummers who never seemed right and in the end it just came back to us two again which is kinda strange. Now we're a three piece with Nic on the drums, he's like a godsend honestly, to have a drummer who's cool and knows what he's doing. But we've yet to find a successful guitarist though. I think Central seems to be the coming together of all the non-metalhead teenage musicians in Adelaide who arent already in a band. Which seems to be 3 people at the moment.
-
Where did the idea for your band's name come from?
When we were born our Mum named us that. Actually we're gonna be scrapping the name Central, and I know I keep saying that as we all hate the name but the problem is we cant agree on anything! I really like the name Cameramen but Nic doesnt seem so keen.
-
What music has inspired your band?
You mean who are we plagarising? Joe Satriani has been a major influence, particularly his track "If I Could Fly". There's a small portion of that song which kinda sounds like one of ours if you change the pitch.
-
Use three words to sum up your band?
WE'RE SO BRILLIANT! That's three words isn't it?
-
What venue would you most like to play at?
Wembely Stadium... one day. At the moment we'll probably settle for anything. Gay nightclub or whatever we'll be there. Nic would enjoy it... (I kid!)
-
If you had a choice, who would be your support band?
It'd be hard to choose, there are so many great bands out there. Um... if Coldplay supported us one day that'd be great, though it'd suck for thier careers. Anyone really but Marty's band Paranoia, though we could persuade the crowd to boo them off stage or something if they did... Sorry if that sounds mean but he deserves it. I'd love to support Megastick Fanfare, that seems realistic.
-
Three people dead or alive you would invite to your gig, and why?
Nic, Oscar and our unknown guitarist. That'd help quite a bit or else quite frankly I'd be stuffed.
-
What are you listening to at the moment?
I discovered another Adelaide band the other day called Leader Cheetah, they're really good, I think they've got an EP out now. The singer is amazing, god I wish I had a voice like that. I also saw some guy named Todd play with this other guy named Tom at the Gov the other night and they were really good. I cant remember anything else about them. And Megastick Fanfare who put on the most amazing live show you'll see in a while, I highly reccommend you check them out if you can. Who else... Nic's been getting into Bloc Party a lot lately. Seen thier new vid for One Month Off? That's genius that is, I wish I made it.
-
Where will your band be in five years from now?
Tonight we take a look at that classic album by Central which changed the world forever...
-
Any tips you would like to share with your fellow muso's?
Yeah. Licking active power points do NOT turn you into a Power Ranger so dont even try.
-
Do you live the Rock n Roll lifestyle?
Yeah baby - Sex, drugs and Rock'n'roll! Except without the drugs... and the sex... hmmm come to think of it we dont really do rock'n'roll music either...
