  • Sydney-based duo Audio Blackmail introduces some of their first recordings and a unique sound, predominantly pop at its core with rock & electro influences. It took a musical adventure spanning 18 months for the band to find the key to rocking the busy Sydney pub scene. Starting out as a five-piece number in 2008, the band played as a covers outfit before splitting in late 2009… but it would be the start of bigger and better things. Founding members Emily and Craig decided to continue the band as a duo, steering away from the covers and realising that between them they could create catchy & original music. Audio Blackmail's first recording (completed in June 2010) reflects an eclectic mix of tracks which accentuate what both band members have to offer. Heralding from Newcastle, Craig Cheong composed & recorded all tracks; he features on guitars, live drums, bass and keys for each song. Lyrics were written and sung by Cairns-raised Emily Pike, whose sultry vocals – sometimes sugar sweet, sometimes edgy – shine through in every track. All recordings were done in a somewhat-soundproofed spare room at Craig's house. Expect some original sounds and a generally upbeat tempo from this duo, who have even included a French rendition of one of their tracks (& some Japanese in their new material).
